Welcome back to school!
We have been busy in the library since day one. We are having a great time during library orientation. Students are having fun doing a photo scavenger hunt throughout the library. In just over a week, we already have checked out over 800 books!!
20 minutes every day!
Our goal at Goldenview is to have EVERY student reading 20 minutes every day. Every Wednesday we have designated time during advisory for sustained silent reading. This means that EVERY student in the building gets a chance in the middle of the week to relax and enjoy a good book.
How to support your reader
-Remind your student to bring their book to school
-Ask your student what they are reading
-Ask your student about the main character of the book. How old is the main character? Describe the main character's personality. Would you be friends with the main character?
-Ask your student to describe the setting of the book. Where does the story take place? What is the time period? Does it sound like a place they would like to visit?
-Ask your student about the main conflict in the story
