Take a Book Selfie!

We were inspired by this article to make our own book selfies last week.  We had some great selfies!  If you want to make one yourself, come by the library this week and use one of our iTouches and the face books we have on display and make your own!  We'll post them all here.

We Now Have Ebooks!

The school district now has a subscription to OverDrive, the ebook distributor, so that means Goldenview staff and students can now borrow ebooks and read them online or on their reading device (Kindle, nook, tablet or phone).  The collection is still small, but if you want to see what we have, go to and browse the collection.  Books may be checked out for 7-21 days, and you may check out two books at a time.

To get on, your username is the 14 digit number on your ID card

and the password is the last four digits of that number.  If you can't find your ID, you can get the number in the library.

The best way to see what is available is to browse the collection on Overdrive.  In the very near future the available ebooks will be searchable in our PAC, and you will be able to link to them and download them from there.

If you have ever borrowed books from the public library, this works the same way.

Battle of the Books List for 14-15 (Tentative)

The 2014-2015 Battle of the Books list is out!*

At the Library Conference and World Domination Conclave/Shindig Hoedown/Bake Sale Fundraiser last weekend at our undisclosed location, we** decided upon (among other nefarious plans) next year's Battle of the Books list.  So don't wait any longer, get started reading now!***

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
Blizzard of Glass by Sally Walker
Deadly by Julie Chibbaro
Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen
The False Prince by Jennifer Nielsen
Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix
Hero by Mike Lupica
Jack London's Call of the Wild (graphic novel) by Neil Kleid
Jump into the Sky by Shelley Pearsall
The Selection by Kiera Cass
Three Times Lucky by Sheila Turnage
The Wild Girls by Pat Murphy

* Due to the nefariousness of the group, this is a tentative list.  A much more definitive list will be out March 15th.  But it will very closely resemble this one.

** No names will be named. For obvious reasons.  I may or may not have been present.

*** Amazingly enough, I've not read a single one of these books.  That's a first.  Despite the tentative nature of the list, I'm getting started today.  Of course I'm taking my chances!  Be warned, you will be too!
